Crypto exchange Bitget signed a three-year partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Luxembourg to advance digital skills and blockchain literacy among young people. Through this collaboration, Bitget joined the Game Changers Coalition led by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation.

The initiative aims to reach 300,000 participants — including adolescent girls, parents, mentors and teachers — across eight countries: Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco and South Africa.

By joining the Game Changers Coalition, Bitget stands alongside the Global Video Game Coalition, the Micron Foundation and Women in Games to collectively empower 1.1 million girls with tech and blockchain skills by 2027. This effort is reinforced by Bitget’s $10 million Blockchain4Her initiative, which champions women’s digital literacy and financial independence through mentorship, funding and tailored educational resources.

Beyond curriculum development, Bitget plans to connect UNICEF with prominent blockchain protocols and Web3 developers. They may act as mentors and partners, bringing diverse technical perspectives to the program.

“Our focus is on equipping adolescent girls with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) skills to help close the gender skills gap,” Gracy Chen, Bitget CEO, told Cointelegraph. She said Bitget is working with UNICEF to develop a scalable approach that integrates blockchain education into global curricula, leveraging input from top Web3 experts to keep the training practical, relevant and accessible to all learners.

Globally, adolescent girls and young women in low and middle-income countries lose out on an estimated $15 billion in economic opportunities each year due to limited internet access and digital skills compared with their male peers. With 90% of jobs today demanding digital competencies, Bitget and UNICEF’s partnership seeks to bridge this urgent gap.

Innovative methods and technology reshape blockchain education

As part of the partnership, Bitget Academy, the exchange’s educational arm, will help design UNICEF’s first interactive blockchain training module, combining online and in-person sessions. The module will focus on using video game creation to teach blockchain fundamentals.

Chen explained the rationale behind using video game design:

“Gamification of learning breaks down complex topics to their core. Roughly 3.3 billion people worldwide play games, it’s only natural for us to learn best when our environment is interactive and supportive.”

Beyond gamification, emerging technologies like generative AI are also being harnessed to broaden access to specialized digital skills. Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao’s new initiative, Giggle Academy, envisions free, globally accessible K-12 education delivered through AI-crafted courses.
