Swan Chain Boosts Filecoin with Scalable zk-SNARK Computing

  • Swan Chain processes Filecoin’s Commit2 zk-SNARKs using GPU-powered off-chain computing for efficient sealing proof validation.
  • The zk-UBI Pool distributes zk-SNARK workloads to providers, enabling scalable Filecoin computation with automated task assignment.

Behind the decentralized data storage process, which is said to be “perpetually undeletable,” there’s actually some serious backend work. One of them: sealing. And it’s at this point that Swan Chain emerges as a new player, helping complete Filecoin’s Commit2 process, using zk-SNARK technology. In short, Swan is helping Filecoin with its heavy lifting—but doing it off-chain.

Swan’s zk-UBI Pool Turns Heavy Proofs Into Shared Workloads

Uniquely, this process involves a distributed network of computing providers, not just a single data center. These providers complete computational proofs and then send the final results to Filecoin for verification.

This not only saves time but also makes the process more scalable. By leveraging the widely available GPU infrastructure, they can boost efficiency without having to build new hardware. Just imagine, for a single 32 GB sector, the Commit2 process can consume up to 275 GB of memory. If you’re using a home laptop, it could crash from the first minute.

Furthermore, Swan also designed a task distribution system called zk-UBI Pool. This is a kind of automated labor market for zk proofs, which adjusts the workload based on the provider’s capacity. So there’s no such thing as a server being exhausted on one side while another is idle.

Besides being efficient, they also provide incentives for anyone who successfully completes a task. The model is similar to freelance work, but specializing in cryptographic proofs.

Furthermore, Swan isn’t stopping at Filecoin. They’re also expanding their reach to other systems like Aleo, Scroll, and StarkNet. This means they could become the go-to zk-SNARK processor for various Web3 networks in the future.

Meanwhile, as of press time, FIL is changing hands at about $2.70, up 9.67% over the last 7 days and 16.08% over the last 30 days.

Filecoin Becomes the Backbone of Transparent AI Storage

Interestingly, the trend of integration between AI and persistent storage is also becoming increasingly apparent around Filecoin. Earlier this month, the CNF reported that CryptoModels began permanently storing its AI models on the Filecoin network.

These models can be run directly on users’ devices, without any telemetry or central oversight. So there’s no such thing as AI models being suddenly deleted or shut down unilaterally.

Similarly, Recall has also integrated its AgentRank scoring system and AI match data into Filecoin. They aim to make the matchmaking process between AI agents transparent and publicly auditable. By storing data on a decentralized infrastructure, no single party can tamper with the results.

Then, in June, a collaborative project between Filecoin and Theoriq launched. They built an AI agent that is fully verifiable on-chain—from the model to the decisions it makes. Everything is stored and tracked through Filecoin’s public repository, providing a solid foundation for future autonomous agents that can collaborate with each other and perform complex tasks autonomously.

However, of all these developments, Swan Chain remains a highlight because it brings new energy to demanding processes that were previously only feasible manually and costly. While the zk-SNARK process typically requires a laborious and highly technical process, Swan opens the way for anyone with a GPU and bandwidth to contribute.

This isn’t just about efficiency; it also opens up opportunities for true decentralization—where the heavy lifting can be shared among many, rather than concentrated in the hands of just one party.
