Pump.fun Token Sale Set for July 12, Not Open to European Traders: ByBit

Popular Solana token launchpad Pump.fun appears to be set to begin the sale of its upcoming token on July 12, after a second major exchange leaked the date. ByBit Ukraine posted and deleted the announcement on Wednesday morning, which included a detail that European users will be restricted from the sale.

A user with the “ambassador” title in the official ByBit Ukraine Telegram group, named Andriy, told Decrypt that the announcement was scheduled to go live at 14:00 UTC, but ByBit Ukraine posted it early by accident. Users in Telegram group can only be given titles by the group owners or administrators. He said the details on the now-deleted post and circulating screenshots were correct at the time of posting—but added that things may change before it’s officially announced.

🚨BREAKING: @Bybit_Official has launched a token sale page for https://t.co/pJH3vz8w1x’s $PUMP token, becoming the second major exchange after @Gate.io to do so.

According to Bybit, the sale will take place from July 12 to 15, with $PUMP tokens distributed 72 hours after the… pic.twitter.com/7bdbsMq6Fz

The blog post claims that the Pump.fun token sale will begin on July 12 at 5 p.m.. It doesn’t specify a time zone, but given it was posted in the Ukrainian group it could mean Ukraine local time EET. The sale is scheduled to end three days later on July 15. Tokens will then be distributed within 48 hours of the end of the sale, according to screenshots of the deleted post.

The deleted post also said the PUMP token price during the sale will be $0.004 with a total supply of 150 billion, and a maximum purchase amount of $500,000.

The part that raised eyebrows among the Pump.fun community was the fact that users based in Europe will not be able to participate in the token sale. But it wasn’t confirmed whether that would be specific to ByBit or if it applies to all PUMP token sales.

It is worth noting that the token launchpad is not available to users in the United Kingdom, following a warning from the UK regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority.

ByBit is now the second major exchange to accidentally post details regarding the PUMP token sale.

On Tuesday, Gate.io posted a page detailing a $600 million sale of the token but quickly pulled the page. The details on the Gate.io page mirror those of ByBit’s blog post, although it did not mention European restrictions.

Pump.fun and ByBit officials did not immediately respond to Decrypt’s request for comment.
