According to the latest development, Vitalik Buterin, the founder of Ethereum, the world’s largest altcoin, announced that the Ethereum Foundation will undergo a complete overhaul following intense criticism.
Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has announced “major changes” to the leadership structure of the Ethereum Foundation (EF) following increasing criticism from the community. In a detailed statement, Buterin outlined ongoing reforms aimed at improving the foundation’s effectiveness and alignment with the ecosystem it serves:
“We are currently in the process of major changes to the EF leadership structure that have been ongoing for close to a year. Some of these have already been implemented and made public, while others are still ongoing.”
According to Buterin, leadership changes are aimed at achieving several key goals:
Increasing technical expertise under the leadership of the Ethereum Foundation.
Strengthening communication and collaboration between EF leadership and ecosystem stakeholders, including users, developers, wallets, and Layer 2 (L2) projects.
Hiring new talent to increase execution speed and organizational agility. Providing more active support to application developers while preserving core Ethereum values such as privacy, open source, and censorship resistance.
Leveraging the Ethereum blockchain for treasury management and payments, as well as increasing the use of decentralized and privacy-preserving technologies.
Buterin also addressed concerns about potential shifts in the foundation’s mission by emphasizing what the changes were not intended to accomplish. He rejected the idea of veering toward ideological extremes or becoming a centralized entity, saying:
“We will not make an ideological turn or adopt extreme mentalities.”
“We will not engage aggressively in lobbying regulators or political figures, especially in powerful countries.”
“The EF will not become an arena for vested interests or a highly centralised organisation.”
Buterin reiterated that the Ethereum Foundation’s role is to remain a neutral and decentralized platform and ensure that it continues to serve the global ecosystem.
